Oosterlingen film
Client: Being B.V. and MVRDV
In collaboration with: Marcel IJzerman
Interviewees: Winy Maas (MVRDV), Joren van Dijk (Omgeving psycholoog)
Our client wanted to make a film to be used as part of a tender submission and I have proposed to structure it as a dialogue between the architect and the environmental psychologist. While the psychologist gave analysis on the design, the architect put forward creative ideas behind design decisions.
Together with Marcel IJzerman we planned a visual narrative to support the story and we decided to use animations in the style of hand sketches rather than using static renders.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Right before the interview we went through key design decisions that should be part of the narrative. Having the prints at hand gave us direction during the interview.
For the second interviewee we choose to have more dynamic footage, closer to the actual project site. We walked and sailed around Oosterlingen while doing the interviews.
The renders that were already produced set the basis for the hand drawn sketches. We then animated the sketches and that gave us a consistent image quality in the video. It was also cheaper and quicker method when compared to creating 3d architectural videos.
